My heart belongs to Wenatchee, Washington. I have lived in the small city for all of my life and I have fallen in love with it. For those of you who have never visited Wenatchee, I strongly encourage that you do! I have made a list of the things that I love about Wenatchee:
1. Wenatchee is reliant upon the Columbia River.
The river is a beautiful place to boat, paddleboard, waterski, swim, or cool off from a run. We have used the powerful river to provide electricity for some parts of Washington, including Seattle. I have so many memories walking and biking the Loop Trail that follows the edge of the river for 11 miles.
2. Wenatchee is located in the Cascade Mountains which means that we get all four seasons.
In the spring and early summer, I love to go hiking in the mountains with my friends and family. We explore trails like Saddle Rock, Castle Rock, Number Two Canyon, and Sage Hills. In the fall I love to take the 20 minute drive to Leavenworth, Washington and watch the leaves change colors.
3. In the winter time, my family spends almost every weekend up at Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort.
We ski backcountry, double black diamond trails, and freshly groomed snow. I also love to go up to the ridge at night and go snowshoeing in the dark with the stars twinkling right above us.
4. Wenatchee is also known for the apples that we produce.
We have dozens of orchards in our valley that ship apples to all parts of the world. I remember being in Bogota, Colombia and seeing apples in the grocery stores that were from one of our local businesses. We know how to produce and we put faith and hard work into our land. In the spring, we host the Apple Blossom Parade where the whole community gathers to celebrate spring.
5. Wenatchee is a valley that values family, education, and community.
We have amazing schools full of passionate teachers, we have annual family events downtown, and there is always something to do or go to in the community.
6. Downtown Wenatchee is a historical beauty.
We have places like Café Mela where friends gather for a cup of coffee. We also have incredible and authentic Mexican restaurants. Wenatchee is a home for many immigrants who are looking for a safe place to live and have a career working in the orchards. Wenatchee also has places like The Owl Soda Fountain where you can get amazing hot fudge sundaes and places like Pybus Public Market where you can meet local businesses for a bite to eat or a bag of fresh produce.
I will always be a Wenatchee girl at heart. Wenatchee is breathtakingly beautiful and I loved growing up in such an amazing community. I have attached a video below by a local business named Voortex Productions. If you would like to see why I love Wenatchee so much, then check out the video:
