Don't get me wrong, I love college. I love the atmosphere, I love the people, I love my roommate, I love my classes but I also love going home. The excitement I have while driving home may or may not lead to me speeding a little. I don't know why I love coming home so much but it is something I look forward to every other weekend. The stress of college and adulting is soon diminished as I enter my hometown, a place that makes me so comfortable.
My dog.
Whenever you're stressed, I highly recommend petting a dog. I love walking in to my house after being gone for a long period of time and seeing how excited my dog is to see me. It is something that instantly puts a smile on my face and the cuddles throughout the weekend seem to make things right again.
Home-cooked meals.
Dining hall food gets a little old after awhile. Plus, a good Sunday morning breakfast made by your old pops never gets old.
Quality time spent with your mom.
It's crazy that I actually enjoy grocery shopping with my mom when I come home for the weekend. Any time that I get to spend with her is something I cherish and appreciate.
Life talks with your dad.
My dad is a very wise man who gives great advice. One thing that I love doing is coming home and dumping all of my problems on my dad for him to somehow provide me with advice on how to fix them. It works and I am thankful that he is able to sit there patiently while I speed through what happened the previous weeks.
Break from my friends at school.
I love you. You are amazing and wonderful, but sometimes I need a break. It is good to step back and take a break from your friends at school since you are constantly around them. Getting refreshed at home allows for a place to really relax and not be social.
Sibling Love.
I have a younger brother and a twin sister. I don't often get to see my sister since she is crazy at her college as well, but I love coming home to spend time with my little brother. He is one of my best friends and it's always fun to catch up with him.
My own bed.
Do I need to say any more? I finally get to sleep in my own bed again, the one I've been using for so many years.
