9 Reasons To Look Forward To Fall As The Summer Days Drift Away

It's the first week of September, which means it's basically October, right?

Sunshine and long summer nights will soon turn into cooler weather and changing leaves. Although summer is full of tons of fun outdoors, careless days, and freedom, I can't help but think about everything there is to adore about fall.

From cozy drinks to football games and pumpkin-flavored everything, there are a bunch of little things to enjoy during the season that never fails to disappoint. Here are nine reasons to get excited about fall.

1. Cool weather is finally here.

Well, if you live in Florida then this doesn't apply, but the weather certainly gets cooler than it was before! There comes to be a point when it's been hot for too long, and everyone is tired of sweating through their clothes and feeling like they are about to have a heat stroke the moment they step outside. Cool weather is then like a breath of fresh air, and it just makes you want to go outside and immerse yourself in nature.

2. You can drink warm beverages.

There is something about cozying up in a comfy spot at home with a warm cup of coffee that nothing can beat. To go along with No. 1, It is much more enjoyable to drink a hot cup of coffee, cocoa, or really any warm beverage when it's not 100 degrees outside.

3. Pumpkins are everywhere.

Who doesn't love pumpkins? You could go to a pumpkin patch and pick out the perfect pumpkin, have a pumpkin carving date, take out the seeds and roast them for a snack, bake a pumpkin pie, or decorate your home or room with pumpkins of different sizes.

4. Football season is here.

As the college football season starts up again, joy is brought to people from all around the world. Whether you are a devoted fan to your team, you enjoy watching games on TV, or prefer to actually go to the games, you will without a doubt have the best time. Football brings people together, and if you are a college student like me, there is nothing quite like going to your school's football games —you're surrounded by school spirit, a high, buzzing energy and a supportive and bonded feeling to your school and the people around you.

5. Halloween is an awesome day even if you aren't a kid.

Whether you spend time with a group of friends, go to a party, visit a haunted house, watch scary movies, or even if you still go trick-or-treating, Halloween is always a day to remember. You get to see little kids and even dogs dressed up in adorable costumes and the holiday gives you an excuse to eat an unhealthy amount of candy.

6. Fall decorations put you in the spirit.

I don't know about you, but I get so excited when I finally get to put up fall decorations because it signifies the start of the holidays. There's nothing that will get you in the spirit more than walking into a room full of candles, pumpkins, and twinkle lights.

7. Sweaters are the comfiest article of clothing.

It will be time when you can finally pull out your stack of sweaters that have been untouched in your closet for months, or you will even have an excuse to buy new ones. In my opinion, sweaters are the comfiest thing you can wear. You kill two birds with one stone because not only are you comfortable, but you are also looking stylish as well.

8. The leaves change color.

One of the most beautiful parts of the season is the leaves changing colors. I love how the green leaves we have seen for so long change to varying shades of orange, red, yellow and brown, almost like a rainbow. This makes me want to open my windows, go for a walk, or just be outside more often.

9. Pumpkin flavored everything fill up the stores.

I saved the best for last because I am obsessed with all things pumpkin. You can find just about any type of food or drink in a pumpkin flavor and when fall arrives you can find it easily in stores. There is the classic pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin cheerios, granola bars, pancakes, and the list goes on.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
