Why We Love Long Beach Island

Proving the Negative 'Jersey Shore' Stereotype Wrong

Why We Love Long Beach Island

After a few brutal hours of summer traffic on Parkway South, I finally see the Promised Land — Exit 63. I experience an immediate sigh of relief as I drive over the causeway and onto the island. This paradise I call my home-away-from-home allows me to escape and leave all of life's stresses on the mainland.

LBI is an incredibly special place to so many people, especially for these reasons:

The People

Whether it be locals or loyal vacationers, the people of Long Beach Island are truly the best. With the pace of life being drastically slower than home (the suburbs of North Jersey), people in LBI are just happier and more willing to offer a smile or wave to a stranger.

The Beaches

The gorgeous, clean sandy beaches of LBI are what attract so many people. Crashing waves, warm salty air and hot lifeguards. Need I say more?

The Food

Long Beach Island is known for having amazing restaurants and bars like Terrace Tavern, Nardi's, Woody's and Plantation. However, a trip to LBI is not complete without a visit to Chegg, a 24-hour restaurant that is considered the crown jewel of the places to eat on the island.

The Atmosphere

Another great aspect of Long Beach Island is the fact that it is fun for everyone from college kids to families to elders. LBI is as tranquil and easygoing as a beach town gets, while still being fun and entertaining for all.

The Attractions

For those cloudy, non-beach days on the island, there are countless things to do and places to see. Some beloved attractions include Barnegat Lighthouse (Old Barney), Thundering Surf Water Park, The Wildlife Preserve and Bay Village.

The Sunsets

Arguably my favorite time of day in Long Beach Island is watching the sunset over the bay. Each time promises for a different, yet equally breathtaking, experience that never fails to amaze me.

The Community

While I do love LBI's beaches, attractions and restaurants, my favorite part about it has to be the strong sense of community. With the small number of chains on the island, local and family-owned businesses are able to flourish. The love for Long Beach Island bring everyone together in a way that few beach towns are able to do.

LBI is the perfect relaxing, family-oriented getaway that always promises to be an amazing time. I am grateful for every second I get to spend here and countdown the days until the summer to return to my happy place. Long Beach Island is loved by so many which not only makes for incredible summers but brings everyone together.
