Poetry On Odyssey: Lonely Vs. Alone

There is a difference

between

lonely and

alone

To be alone is

having only

your own thoughts

the mad little voices

in your head

guiding? tempting? leading?

you

no compass

no smoke signal or radio

just you

alone

in a personal

island of isolation

Being lonely is

wanting to feel wanted

and thinking that

a warm body

and empty words

can fill the void

fixable with a quick text

or a snap saying "who tryna hang?"

there is a difference

between

being alone

and lonely

don't look in the dictionary

its true definition isn't there

because to know it

to understand it

is to feel it
