My best friend and I have been planning the most epic of cross-country road trips for the last 3 years, and for the longest time, it's been something for us to talk about and plan when we're down and out, or when we're up and at 'em. However, recently we've been thinking about the future a bit more, the future being: what are we going to do when we graduate?
This road trip was supposed to be our college graduation present to each other. It was supposed to be that thing we did while we were young and still had the chance to do fun and adventurous things. Except, the more we planned, and the more real this road trip got, the more both of began thinking about jobs and careers. We kept those thoughts in the back of our minds for a while, but when junior year got here, and the road trip got more real and got closer, we were forced to vent those feelings to each other.
When we graduate, what if we get job offers? What if we have work? What if...? The list went on, and that endless list is what really made us think. As in, think about life. Once our futures really get started, we're never going to have the chance to just be adventurous ever again. Or at least, we're never going to want to. Once we get caught up in the real world, things like this road trip aren't even going to cross our minds. If anything, they're just going to be a distant memory that we look back on - and when we look back on the road trip, neither of us wanted to look back in regret of something we never got to do.
That's why we decided to go for it. That's why we decided that, no matter what, we're going on this road trip. We'll never be young and free to do something like this again, and that got me thinking.
We only have one life. One life. It's important that we take advantage of it. It's important that we learn to live life while we have the chance because that chance isn't always going to be there. If there's something that you want to do, you need to go for it while you still can because you won't always be able to. Life is crazy, and it's easy to get caught up in it and forget to go for things you've always wanted to go for.
I propose that we all go for what we want, that we love life, and that we realize how important it is to live it while we have the chance. I think it's important that we do what we want to do. I think it's important that we do what we want to do. I think it's necessary that we love this world that we live in and everything it offers us. Life is special, and I think that it's time we all realize that.
