Why Living At Home In College Is OK
Morgan Pope

College is a time to get away from your family and friends and start over, but you don't always have to move away. I have grown up moving around because of my parents' jobs, and so when it was time to pick a college, I couldn't imagine moving away. There are moments when I wish that I had followed in my friends' footsteps and moved away, but in the end, I don't think that I would like it very much.

I am in no way a homebody, I love to travel and plan to continue that, but I also love my family and the experiences I have because I still live at home. People always wonder why I do it, and there is really no explaining it to them. It has nothing to do with money and everything to do with I love my life and I don't feel like changing it right now.

Please don't tell me I am missing out on the opportunity of a lifetime because I am not in a dorm, sharing a bedroom and a bathroom. I spend plenty of time on campus. I work and do campus activities daily. So don't tell me that I will look back and regret my decision to not live with tons of other girls. I am planning to move into a house next year. So please please just stop telling people not in dorms that they are missing out on the joys of college.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
