When college comes around there is the question of would you rather live on campus or commute to school? Although commuting may not be an option for all, as the school may be too far away to consider, it is definitely something that I have found has perks.
1. YOU SAVE MONEY!
Dorm life is expensive and in most cases just as expensive as the college education itself! Instead of spending tens of thousands of dollars on living in a dorm you can save the money and eventually have enough to move out when you’re ready WITHOUT being stressed.
2. You can still have the college experience living at home.
Many people think that because they don’t live on campus they will miss out on things but that’s why it is important to get involved! Join clubs! Join a fraternity/sorority! Volunteer! Make friends with EVERYONE! Having connections will get you far in life and you never know when it will help you out.
3. Home cooked meals are certainly a part of the experience of living at home.
There is no better feeling than coming home after a long day of classes to a nice warm meal.
4. You have your parents' support.
College can be extremely stressful at times and we all have those days where we want to break down completely. While it is nice to make a phone call and hear your mom's voice, it is even better to be able to come home and have a welcoming hug from her.
5. You have your own transportation.
Living in a dorm you don’t typically have a way to get around, so this is definitely the best benefit of living at home. You are free to go and do as you please.
Whether you chose to live at home and commute or live on campus in a dorm it is always possible to have an amazing college experience.
