The life you live in this world is created by yourself. Your actions, your ideas and your motives lead to how you got where you are now. I understand life takes unexpected turns, abrupt stops, unforeseen circumstance, but what you do with that changes who you are.
The saying is so old and often used that some may say it’s even played out, Carpe Diem, but it couldn't be truer. Seize the day! Live in the moment. Living in the past has its problems, and living in the future prevents you from enjoying your life.
Living in the moment gives you the opportunity to experience your truest happy self. A true happy person can do immaculate things. Defeat obstacles that man has set out to stop you. I will make a promise to you, that if you stop thinking "what will come of this if I do" and start thinking "looks like a new adventure, let’s go!" your life will change.
I developed this model young, back when I was trying to be the best snowboarder I could be. Turns out I didn't have enough talent to make it with Shawn White, but in my attempts I lived by one saying. Every time I dropped into a new line, a big booter, or the pipe I would say "F**k it and Chuck it". This saying was for myself to forget what’s going to happen when I don't land, forget what will happen three runs from now and just focus on my body spinning through the jump.
Now I casually ski and snowboard for fun, but my motto hasn't changed. It is just applied to new experiences in life. A few weeks back I wrote about my experience traveling out to Europe, running with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. A life changing experience, because I decided to live in that moment.
Sometimes living in the moment has had its downsides, you miss things or mess up other things. That is what life is all about, learning. Maybe that life moment you lived last month that has you in court today, but you learned something didn't you?
Life can't be perfect, and if it is then I'm sorry for you. A perfect life is a boring life. My life has been exciting and eventful. When I die, the dash between the days I was born and the day I died will mean something. It will mean I lived, it will mean I had experiences. Make your dash matter, live your life. If someone ask you for a favor help them out, if someone ask you to tag along, tag along. If a new opportunity opens up, check it out!
We have too many nay sayers and don't doers in this world already. Let’s be the difference in this world that we want to see.
