The Little Things

Sometimes it's the little things in life that matter the most.

The Little Things

Sometimes the best moments in life are the ones that no one takes the time to acknowledge. The little things that you can't quite explain. There are so many of them that make you feel a certain something that is just indescribable. We don't know why, they just do. And that's really as much as you can say about it.

So here's a list of some of the little things that make life so complete:

Nighttime car rides in the summer with the windows down that make you feel limitless and carefree. All that matters is the song on the radio.

How scary movies give you a thrill while terrifying you simultaneously.

Getting your day made by someone telling you that you made their day.

Hearing someone laugh. Especially if you were the one to tell the joke. It's even better if it was a bad joke.

Changing into sweatpants after wearing jeans all day.

Getting an A on a test that you studied exceptionally hard for.

The excitement you experience when your favorite song comes on the radio unexpectedly.

Hugging your mom after you haven't seen her for weeks. And her holding you so tight that you can feel how much she missed you.

The moment when you finally catch your breath after a long run.

When someone says your name in a text. Somehow making it just a little bit personal makes it mean so much more.

The way a song can take you back to a certain memory. So nostalgic and bittersweet.

The smell of freshly baked cookies.

When the pizza comes before the delivery time.

The moment you pick up your phone after you dropped it and it isn't shattered.

Finding money in the pocket of a jacket you haven't worn in a while.

When someone is about to kiss you and there's a pause when your lips are impeccably close.

When you get the last cookie or slice of cake.

When a text makes you smile and you feel kind of like a loser for grinning at your phone but also a certain happiness that someone could have that effect on you simply through a message.

Finally getting that 100th like on the picture you posted on Instagram (or 200th or 300th like for you insta famous people out there).

When someone tells you they like your voice. Debatably the best compliment to receive because it's an aspect about yourself that you can't change.

When you're sitting around a bonfire and there's a moment when everyone stops talking and the only noise is the crackling of the sparks.

When the summer sky is that flawless shade of blue and it perfectly compliments the grass.

When you make it to a charger right before your phone dies.

Stepping into a hot shower after you've been outside during the winter. Nothing can warm you up better.

When you finally have the time to sit down and do nothing after being busy for a week straight.

The moment when someone says they are proud of you. And you can tell that they genuinely mean it.

These are the moments that make you fall in love with life. The moments that you don't realize how much you appreciate them until they happen. Every day may not be good but there is something good in every day, and once you finally grasp that and decide to live by it, you will find that life isthat much better.

You may not be able to explain the little things, but sometimes it's those moments that leave you speechless, breathless, or unexpectedly happy, if even just for second, that matter the most.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
