The Things We Miss Everday

4
Little Miracles
Lexi Pilz

Throughout my life, I have been neglectful of the gifts the Lord has laid out before me. He gives so much so freely and as humans, we take it for granted. We miss the tiny miracles of life, love, and friendship that we receive on any given day.

He gives us life everday that we wake up. We survive because he gives us life. We breathe because he gives us life. We have fun and smile because he gives us life. A lot of times we go through the day focusing on the little things that we are angry about and we miss the sweet little things such as life that he gives us.

He also gives us love. And no not all of us have some steaming romance to brag about, but we have each other. We have a community of Christians that love us. We have family's and friends. We have people who love us so dearly because God loves us. We have people in this world who put everyone before themselves because that's what Jesus would do. God gave us the gift of love and we can give it with as much passion as we take it.

Friendship is his final gift to man. We have families, but they are assigned to us. We also have a much more important thing to choose and that is our friends. We choose who to love in that scenario. We may have to pick and choose wisely, but they are people that don't have to love us but do. In the end, they are people that God gives us to hold us through the tough times, but through the suffering, we miss out on it.

In the darkest times of our life, we miss out on the fact that God did great things. He holds us and loves us more than you could ever know. He sends us earthly gifts that shower us with hope, and in all the mess of the world, we forget it. We forget that together we have all the miracles we could ever need life, love, and friendship.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
