Hey Little Me, This Is You From The Future With Some Words Of Wisdom

Oh, what I wish I would've known back then.

People really can change and I have noticed it in myself over the past few years. Nobody can tell you that you are going to be the same forever. It just isn't true. All you have to do is wake up one day and decide that you are going to better yourself, not only for the people around you but for you. Sometimes, you just need a little advice and know everything is going to be okay to get started.

Dear younger self,

You may feel like you have your whole life planned out, but I'll be the first to admit that plans change. Don't stress about figuring everything out because most likely, you're going to decide you want to do something else instead. Take everything day by day and roll with the punches. Life is a lot more fun when you don't have to worry about the little things.

You don't have to be friends with everyone, but you have to be friendly to everyone. You never know when you're going to run into someone again, and who knows? Maybe the person you were nice to could invite you out on their yacht someday.

Even when it seems like the whole world is against you, you can't let it get the best of you. It will pass and life will go on. It always has and it always will. Remember, the best is yet to come.

Never stop working hard. Determination will always get you places. You may want to give up sometimes, but it will all pay off in the end. The journey is the fun part about reaching your destination.

Always say yes to an adventure. The most beautiful part about life is being able to live it, so go on that road trip, go see that midnight movie, and go have fun. Life is too short to spend it in one place.

Do what you love. You don't have to do what everyone else is doing or what someone tells you to do. Being happy is the most important thing, and if you follow your heart you'll never regret it.

Be yourself, but always be in the pursuit of making yourself a better person. You're never too cool to be too nice to someone and you are never too cool to improve yourself.

God's plan for you is better than any plan you can make for yourself. He has everything in His hands and will take you where you need to go when the timing is right. Don't rush anything, just trust the process and know that everything is going to work out for the best. Pray for guidance and go where you feel led. You will never be led astray doing this. He is always with you and will never lead you anywhere you are not meant to go. Stay strong in your faith and see where He needs you to go.

Love,

You

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
