If you're anything like me, you love music. A single song can surface quite a few different emotions. Spotify is my weakness and I've created specific playlists depending on how I feel at certain times. There have been so many underrated, up-and-coming artists recently, and honestly, it's tiring to keep up with them all. However, I can list more than a few that have caught my attention, especially when I'm feeling blue. These artists know how to communicate sorrow or melancholy so well, that I've created my own version of a ~sad times~ playlist with the exact songs below.

1. "crash" by EDEN

EDEN expresses a similar style in almost all of his songs, so his latest album, "vertigo" is perfect to listen to when you're having a bad day.

2. "All We Do" by Oh Wonder

One of my favorite songs by them, "All We Do" examines what it means to be human. Although it's probably not meant to be a sad song, its simple tune and heartfelt lyrics drew me to put it on this list. "We believe that everyone is equal. We are all human. We all deserve the world. And we can build that equality by sharing what love, knowledge, and magic we have, with others." - Oh Wonder

3. "Empty" by Olivia O'Brien

Olivia O'Brien has quite a few sad songs, as well; but, she makes each her own.

4. "Over My Head [Acoustic]" by The Fray

Most of you have probably heard the original, but the acoustic version is, in my opinion, so much better. You can hear the raw emotion surrounding each lyrical phrase. It's quite comforting.

5. "Blue" by The Neighbourhood

You might know The Neighbourhood because of their hit song "Sweater Weather," but their new album is just as fire. This song shows a different side of the band's voice, which is equally refreshing.

6. "1-800-273-8255" by Logic & Alessia Cara

This song doesn't need much explanation. It can bring hope, even on the darkest of days.

7. "Somebody Else" by Verite

This a cover, but I prefer this version over the original, sung by the 1975. I would recommend listening to any song by Verite because they're all so good. Her voice is absolute perfection.

8. "Let You Down" by NF

NF's rapping style drew me to put one of his songs on this list. That, combined with his authenticity give him mad respect.

9. "Nuvole Bianche" by Ludovico Einaudi

This is an instrumental piece, but I would wager that it brings out the most emotion in me, out of all of the songs on this list.

10. "Voldemort" by With Confidence

Contrary to the title of this song, it's extremely cheerful. Hence, it's perfect to listen to when you're feeling bummed. The main singer explained that the meaning behind this song represents overcoming mental health issues. “’Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself.’ Voldemort is my personification of mental illness and this song is a big, happy and carefree f*** you to Voldemort." It's a masterpiece - a must listen.

So, there you have it. If you were looking for song recommendations, you're welcome. If not, I hope you enjoyed scrolling through this sad boi mixtape!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
