I, as well as many of my closest friends, have recently fallen into the hole of addiction that is "Shameless." While I have been watching this show at an increasingly alarming rate, I have noticed that Lip's experience at college is one of the most relatable ones I have ever seen on a television show. Most shows choose to portray college as being a twenty-four-hour party, with maybe one class every 10 episodes— but "Shameless" accurately shows just how much college can differ from what most people expect of it, without losing its fantastic humor.

1. When he questioned the real purpose of going to lecture

Lip has always been a realist, and the only reason he made it this far in his education is that he knew how to get what he needed out of the system. Now that he is attending university, many things that seem unimportant are actually crucial to success, and vice versa.

2. When he brought Liam to school with him to help out back home

Sometimes your personal life will get in the way of your school life, but Lip really took it in stride (and even provided Liam with some education about the population of many residence halls).

3. He was determined to get his degree and reminded himself of the reason

Fortunately, many people are able to go to school out of genuine interest, or to benefit their own lives, while Lip is going only to help his family by getting a real degree.

4. He has been unprepared for class and had to improvise

Everyone knows that laptops and other pieces of technology are essential for college, and most people are lucky enough to have access to these things. Lip, on the other hand, needed to handwrite his notes but forgot a pen. Anyone can relate to forgetting something and needing to get creative in order to still be productive in class.

5. He learned the truth about his abilities

Unfortunately, many high achieving students go to college and are faced with the reality that they are just average. Although it is a tough pill to swallow, this reality check got Lip to live up to his potential and put some real effort into his education.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
