Light
By John Raney
oh, the great fire in the sky
sending heaven's sabers to pierce the darkness
and reclaim the domain of the sleeping earth from the moon
the stars disappear, and the sky becomes blue
brighter, and brighter, they pierce the veil
and awake the peoples of earth to a day anew
the grass, and trees, flowers and vines, rise up to receive the warm gift of the sun's new life
to end the blindness of night, and to recover, renew, and revive
all that once hid from the dark, emerges from its concealed home
and all of the nocturnal creatures return to their homes
and all the things that stalk in the night
scurry away from the morning light
but, alas the sun continues on its infinite journey, out of sight, and back in again
to battle the darkness
and to bring light to wherever it can
