Sorry Life, I Didn't Mean To Make You So Complicated

Are we alive or are we living?

There are two sides to everything. That's how the world was made, right? Good against bad. There is some good and some bad in everything. How come life is so complicated if it only has two sides? We do it to ourselves.

We complicate things because we think there's more to life than there actually is. We don't take it for what it is. Maybe we do this to make life more exciting and unexpected. Or maybe we do it to feel something.

I believe that we make life complicated. That's the difference between being alive and living. Are you alive or are you living? I believe one of the truest things we crave is a connection with others. And sometimes as we try to connect, we lose focus connecting with ourselves.

When we fail to make the connections we thought we would make, we don't only give up on others, but we give up on ourselves. Only you can really understand yourself, and while there are people that help you understand yourself better than others, you are the only one who can explain what you are feeling and can reflect on what you want from life. However, I use friendships and conversations to help me better understand who I am. I like talking, and I like asking questions.

I believe it's better to feel pain than to feel nothing. Because with pain, we still have the ability to feel. And with hope, one day we will have the ability to feel true happiness rather than pain. Happiness is relative. It can't be defined because it's different for everyone. What makes you happy may be different than the person sitting next to you. It's hard to define.

Some people are only happy with a million dollars, others are happy just laying on the grass under the sun. We all have fears, and I consider anything that keeps me away from my fears to be true happiness.

For instance, I am scared of losing people, so I surround myself with friends, family, and mentors to keep me engaged in the world and eager for life. I think that is the reason some people are so important to me. They offer me a sense of hope, reassurance, and guidance that I can't always find within myself. That is something that is so so special to me as I make certain people a part of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
