I've been doing theatre since the sixth grade, just a few weeks shy of my 12th birthday.
I started out as an actor and eventually discovered other aspects of the discipline like designing, crew and technician work, administrative work, and stage management.
In all of the hours I've spent working on shows, reading plays, and going to class, I've learned A LOT of things that have helped shape and mold me into who I am today. Here are some life lessons I learned that can be relevant for everyone, even if theatre isn't really your thing.
1. Don't throw away your shot.
2. The best things are often the least expected.
3. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
4. We're all still a little bit kids at heart.
5. Family isn't always your blood relatives. Sometimes it's your friends.
6. Music heals the soul.
7. Sometimes life is random and unfair.
8. It's okay to stand out.
9. Sometimes you just need to move on.
10. You can find beauty in even the smallest of things.
11. Patience and perseverance are key.
12. What makes us special makes us strong.
13. It's okay to care too much, as long as it doesn't negatively affect your mental health.
14. Life is a collection of stories.
15. Everyone has their own stories, and reasons to tell them.
16. We all love who we love.
17. Sometimes you just need to go with the flow.
18. We're all damaged in some way.
19. Just believe, and things will happen for you.
20. You can't accomplish anything worthwhile if you don't put in the hard work.
21. We all need a little empathy. It can go a long way.
22. It's perfectly okay to fail.
23. Teamwork is an essential skill no matter what you do.
24. You will eventually find who you are.
25. We will all be found.
