If you don't like "Harry Potter," then you should probably stop reading this article right now. If you decide to continue reading, but still don't like "Harry Potter," I just have one question: Why? That's because "Harry Potter," HP, H-Dizzle (sorry, too far), has taught me some great life lessons, and knowing an ABC Family Harry Potter Weekend is approaching never ceases to get me pumped to stay in on the weekend. I might be that annoying person who can quote every line from each of the eight movies while also knowing the exact differences between the books and the movies. Harry, Hermione, Ron, and all of our Hogwarts pals shared some great words of wisdom, and continue to as the next generation begins to read and watch this magical (see what I did there) series.
1. "We've all got both light and darkness inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are." -- Sirius Black
Starting off with the big guns. This life lesson is key to any situation, because when times get tough, we need to make a decision about who we want to be. We have the choice to choose the kind of person we want to be to others and to ourself. We are defined by our choices.
2. "I'd like a nice cup of tea, or a large brandy." -- Albus Dumbledore
Even Dumbledore doesn't have it together all the time. There are moments when you may feel like you need a break, and it's important to embrace those moments. When times get tough, just remember Dumbledore had some tough times too.

3. “Just because you’ve got the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn’t mean we all have.” -- Hermione Granger
First off, yes girl! I think Hermione is one of the strongest female characters in modern fictional literature. Not only does she kick butt in class, but she is surrounded by strong male characters and never fails to hold her own. The life lesson to remember is that everyone is different in terms of how they react in situations. There are no better ways or right ways to react, but what's best for you is what matters.
4. "It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your enemies, but even more to stand up to your friends." -- J.K Rowling
The ones you love the most are sometimes the people who can do no wrong in your mind. This is okay since (hopefully) if they are in your life, then they won't do wrong. But in tough times, being the most honest with your friends can be the hardest thing. There's no truer statement about needing more courage to stand up to the ones you love.

5. "I solemnly swear I am up to no good." -- Marauder's Map
This might as well be my life slogan. I am not up to good a lot of the time, but at least I know I wasn't alone in this (I am looking at you, Harry, Hermione, and Ron). Embrace being up to no good, because in those moments is when you create new memories, new friends, and new adventures.
6. "Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and above all, those who live without love." -- Albus Dumbledore
That Dumbledore sure was wise. This is one of my favorite lines, since it validates that life without love is not something recommended, but rather should be pitied. Through loving someone else and especially loving yourself, you grow to be a stronger, more courageous and enlightened person. Shoutout to Dumbledore for telling us once again love is our greatest weapon.
