Brooke Davis
B. Davis is everyone’s favorite character and the girl we all aspire to be. Lucas, in his novel An Unkindness of Ravens, put it best: “She was fiercely independent, Brooke Davis. Brilliant and beautiful and brave. In two years. she had grown more than anyone I had ever know. Brooke Davis is going to change the world someday, and I’m not sure she even knows it.”
Brooke is the textbook definition of confident and she certainly doesn’t let anyone get in the way of achieving her dreams. She is not afraid to stand up for her beliefs or share her thoughts or feelings. She is honest and sincere in all her endeavors and channels all of her energy and passion into the things and people she cares about. Brooke is all about girl-power: she shows that you don’t need a man by your side to accomplish your goals. She exudes strength as she overcomes problems with her relationships with her parents, an attack, adoption struggles and more. Brooke proves to us time and time again the importance of being compassionate toward others and having a generous heart.
Haley James Scott
Haley is the epitome of a caring, kind, gentle and thoughtful friend. She will do anything for her friends or loved ones and is always willing to go above and beyond, but also recognizes that sometimes it is okay to want things for herself. Haley shows us how to gracefully get through the rough times in life, whether it is marital struggles, family issues, death or career problems. She is cautious, careful, studious and meticulous in every possible area of her life. Haley is an encourager and loves to help people, from her students at the high school to her friends and family members.
Nathan Scott
Nathan proves to us the importance of perseverance. In every season, Nathan makes it clear that you have to fight for what you want, whether it’s his relationship with Haley, his basketball career or escaping his kidnappers. In Season 2, he writes in an essay, “You know what? Tragedies happen. What are you gonna do, give up? Quit? No. I realize now that when your heart breaks, you got to fight like hell to make sure you’re still alive. Because you are. And that pain you feel? That’s life. The confusion and fear? That’s there to remind you, tat somewhere out there is something better, and that something is worth fighting for.” Nathan fights and overcomes many obstacles in attaining his goals and dreams. He also proves that family does not define who you are.
Peyton Sawyer
P. Sawyer, even though she’s no one’s favorite character (hopefully), demonstrates the importance of loyalty to friends. From her friendships with Brooke and Haley to her relationships with Jake, Lucas and even Nathan, Peyton is always there for anyone who needs her and encourages those who need it. Peyton does not give up on people and strives to see the goodness in everyone (even if she does drive people away sometimes). She gracefully deals with people entering and exiting her life. She is passionate about art and music and is willing to do anything to achieve her dreams of owning her own record label. Peyton is independent, and she disproves the general high school cheerleader stereotype.
Lucas Scott
Lucas is another character that is not my personal favorite, but regardless, he teaches us the value of being there for others. Whenever Peyton calls him (which is about a thousand different times), Lucas always drops what he’s doing to be there for her. Lucas loves his mother and encourages her to do whatever it takes to follow her dreams. His introverted personality allows him to see people for who they really are, and get to know them in a more meaningful way. Lucas is another character who refuses to let anyone (i.e. Dan) or anything (i.e. heart problems) get in the way of achieving his dreams.
