My best friend, a cute fluffy mess with four paws who never gets tired has taught me more than any book ever has. With his constant need for attention and his wagging tale he has taught me many life lessons that I believe will help me later in life. Here are five of those.
1. There is always time to play first
My puppy has taught me that even when his plate of food is right in front of him and he needs to eat, or when it is time to go out for our daily walk he will always choose to have fun and play with his toys first. It doesn't matter what responsibilities you may have or what everyone expects you to do, the most important thing is to have fun! So play now, work later. Perfect logic!
2. Say hello to every one
Have you noticed how this days everyone is walking around looking down at their phones or not really appreciating what is around them? Well my dog thinks that that is simply not okay and he has taken steps to abolish this cruel practice. The first step to do so is barking at every single living, moving thing you see in order to say hello. Saying hello to someone when you are out for a walk could even make their day and help you meet new friends!
3. Trust no one
So you were just given a very tasty treat, and you are in a crowded room but suddenly you have to step out for a minute to deal with something else. Do you take the treat with you, leave it right where it is and come back for it later or hide it in a super secret location where no one will ever find it? Why is that even a question? You hide that treat in a super secret location, of course! What if you take it outside and someone steals it from you or you leave it where it is and everyone eats it when you're not looking? Never trust anybody with your treasures. Duh!
4. Sleep, it is good for you
It doesn't matter where you are, what time it is or what your friends are doing. If your body is asking for a nap you take that nap and you don’t feel sorry about it. So what if that pug Lola wants to show you her toys! She can wait until you wake up. In our busy lives and schedules we forget to get enough rest, but nothing is more important than taking care of your body's needs, according to my puppy.
5. Always protect your loved ones
According to my dog, if you hear a strange noise in the middle of the night you should always alert your loved ones so that they can protect themselves from whatever that is. If you think that something isn't quite right always let them know first. Loyalty to those you love is the most important quality anyone could have. It is important to always look out for those you love.
Being a dog can be very stressful, you have to make sure to smell and hear everything, you have to bring your family company and most importantly you have to love them. So who could be wiser than a puppy who does all that every day?
