It has been more than a week since we've heard about the death of Prince. Sometime, I wonder how the music world managed to keep going. For those who remember dancing to Prince's tunes in their diapers, completely enamored by his talent and extravaganza, or even thought that at some point they would marry him, I understand your pain.

1. "Life is just a party, and parties weren't meant to last" (Song: "1999")
As I am embracing this particular moment in my life and learning to slow things down and smell the roses, sort of speak; I couldn't agree more with this message. Prince understood very well that life was fleeting and that it was important to treat it as a party. And no, I don't mean party as in stumbling and being blackout drunk. Maybe I should use "celebrate" rather than "party." Celebrate the everyday, enjoy the little things, live in the moment and be in the present because tomorrow is truly not guaranteed.
2. "I know times are changing, It's time we all reach out for something new" (Song: "Purple Rain")
No one understood better than Prince that the only constant thing in life was change. And since life is all about change, you shouldn't restrain yourself and instead push yourself to try something that you've never tried before. Be daring, bold and free.
3. "Am I the weaker man, Because I understand, That love must be the master plan" (Song: "Diamonds and Pearls")
We often think that the strongest man is the one that shows the less emotions. This notion is socially accepted and shows up everywhere, at work, in books, at the movies. But there is strength, I'll even argue that there is more strength in allowing yourself to be vulnerable and granting yourself to love and be loved.
4. "Dear beloved we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life" ("Let's go crazy")
This last lesson is probably the most crucial one because it reminds us that we are all in this together. because at the end of the day, regardless of how we choose to do it, we are all striving to live, to enjoy and to get the best out of life.
I am completely and without qualification happy to have been graced with Prince musical talent. And when I'll next hear is music, I won't be sad about his passing but rather celebrate this man's philosophy and outlook on life.
