I am an extreme Disney Nerd. If it is Disney related, I am and will most likely be there. Disney has been a big part in my life, here are some lessons that it has taught me over the years.
1. Pinocchio on lying.
His nose is a great example for what a lie does in your life. When you lie, it will, most likely, come back to haunt you later on in life.
2. Peter Pan on growing up.
Childhood can't last forever. Wendy's character in Peter Pan chose to leave Neverland and return home so she could grow up.
3. Mulan on gender inequality.
Women generally have to work twice as hard as men do to be taken seriously. Mulan went undercover as a man to be a warrior in the Chinese army.
4. Winnie the Pooh on having too much of a good thing.
The notorious scene of Winnie the Pooh stuck in a beehive because of over-indulgence of Honey, his favorite food.
5. People really suck sometimes.
Gaston, Cinderella's step-mother and sisters, Curella - all awful people for no apparent reason other than reality.
6. Woody and Buzz on saying goodbye.
It is possibly the worst thing to day. I know I was not the only one who cried when Andy said goodbye to Woody and Buzz for the last time.
7. Thumper on being kind to others.
"If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all" - Thumper. I don't think anything else needs to be said here.
8. Dumbo on being yourself.
Dumbo was made fun of for his big ears. It did take him awhile , but he eventually embraced himself and worked with what he had.
9. Simba on not regretting your past, and learning to face your fears.
Samba spent too much time worrying about the past and what other thought he did that he tries to run away from everything.
10. Merida on speaking up for yourself.
Merida wanted nothing to do with the other boys fighting for her hand in marriage. She made it very well known that she was in control of her own fate, and not any boy.
11. Marlin and Dory on never giving up.
When Nemo was taken from his home by a diver. Marlin journey ed across the ocean, meeting Dory along the way, to bring his son home. This is where we all learned to "Just keep swimming", not matter what life throws at us.
12. Rapunzel on stepping outside of your comfort zone.
Rapunzel taught us that stepping out of your comfort zone, or tower, will almost always lead to an adventure.
Disney can be looked at as extremely childish in some ways, but I love all of the subtle lessons it can teach. These are only a few of the many lessons I have learned from Disney.
