A lot of people think of country music and immediately turn away from it. Truth be told, country music has a lot of relatable life situations. Country music artists write songs based on how they feel or things they've been through. Here are some phrases from country songs that I believe have valuable life lessons that many people can relate to.

1) “Don’t blink.” – Kenny Chesney

Life goes by pretty fast, don’t waste time focusing on little things that don’t matter. Enjoy the good times, take risks, and don’t take anything for granted. The good things are going to be over before you know they even happened.

2) “Always stay humble and kind.” – Tim McGraw

If you’re lucky enough to be blessed and surrounded by the right people everyday and always given unconditional love, don’t be anything less than humble. Be kind and have gratitude. A little kindness goes a long way and is always appreciated.

3) “If you’re faced with a choice and you have to choose, I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.” – Rascal Flatts

If you’re stuck in a situation and don’t think you have a way out, in the end, it’s yourself and your life that matters. Choose to do what is going to make you the happiest and the rest will fall into place.

4) “Have a little faith to fall back on.” – Hunter Hayes

Create relationships that are going to make you feel safe if you need a little guidance or a shoulder to cry on. Keep around the ones that are always there for you.

5) “Live like you were dying.” – Tim McGraw

If you don’t live as if every breath was your last, you’re not living to your fullest. It’s okay to be sad, but don’t let it consume you. If you were to die tomorrow, would you be happy with the way you’ve finished your life?

6) “Be a best friend, tell the truth & overuse I love you.” – Lee Brice

Be the friend you wish to have. Letting someone know how much you love them never hurts. Anything, but the truth, can get you in trouble.

7) “It’s funny how it’s the little things in life that mean the most.” – Zac Brown Band

It’s not the expensive cars or the $900 prom dress that’s going to matter in the long run, it’s the relationships created and the true feeling of happiness you get from other people. She wants you to hold her hand and let her wear your jacket. She doesn’t care if you spend $5 or $500 on her birthday gift. She cares how you make her feel.

8) “God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you.” – Rascal Flatts

Relationships end with hope for new ones to be found. Everything happens for a reason, don’t dwell on things you’ve lost, and look ahead at what’s in front of you. It could be something great.

9) “Some pages turned, some bridges burned, but there were, lessons learned.” – Carrie Underwood

Things change, people change, and we can only grow stronger from learning through mistakes. If you’ve lost a friendship in the past, chances are it’s supposed to stay there.

10) “People throw rocks at things that shine.” – Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift pretty much has a lesson in every song. People are going to hate you for what you’ve got, let them. Keep being you. Don’t let ‘em tear you down. You’re all that matters.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
