I remember my favorite books. They were filled with sadness, joy, excitement and everything in between. Some chapters you just wanted to read over and over again, and some you couldn’t wait to get through. Sometimes turning that page is the hardest thing to do. But aren’t you impatient to know what happens? Does the guy get the girl? Do they live happily ever after? What happens to that one girl?
Why can we turn the page so easily in a book by Nicholas Sparks, but not in our life? Our life is the greatest read of all time. Why are we not so excited to see what is next?
Everyone moves on and turns the page multiple times throughout life. High school, relationships, career paths and lifestyles are all things we have trouble moving on from. But “there comes a day when you realize turning the page is the best feeling the world- because you realize there’s so much more to the book than the page you were stuck on.”
The chapter you are stuck on may be the first chapter of twenty altogether. You may be on page thirty out of five-hundred.
Maybe this was a long chapter that took up 15 years of your life. You get comfortable, you don’t want to start all over again. We need to remember that you can always fold the corner of the page and come back to it. You can reminisce, turning that page doesn’t mean the previous pages are gone.
Fold that corner of the page, start reading the next chapter and come back to that page if you need to. If you don’t ever want to read that chapter, you have the privilege to never open to those pages again. But those chapters add to the story, without them, the story wouldn’t be the same.
“Life is like a book. Some chapters are sad, some are happy and some are exciting, but if you never turn the page, you will never know what the next chapter has in store for you.”
Did you just end a relationship? Did someone just come and go in your life? You have to believe when someone walks away from you, it’s not the end of your story. Think of it as the end of their character’s role in your story. Same with a stage in life.
You thought you had the perfect major in college, think again. Just a little plot twist in the story line to keep you on your feet.
Take the leap of faith. You will know when it is time to turn the page. Something great is bound to happen. Sometimes this small step can be the biggest step of your life.
You ultimately get to choose if you want to turn the page. Your life is your book; you get to fill the pages. Don’t close the book because it is not what you pictured when you looked at the front cover.
Just because it is the end of a chapter doesn’t mean it is the end of the book, my dear.
I challenge you to be brave. Step out of whatever is comfortable to you. You never know what is in your future. The best is yet to come. Life is a great read. You are a better author than Nicholas Sparks in this case. You have the answers to your “true story”.
Turn it, fold the corner of it and keep reading it. Life is a great read. I would highly recommend it.
