"Stop thinking so much and just try things. Stop discussing so much and just do things. Try." — Sebastian Siemiatkowski.
This is a quote that I have seen many different versions of. A quote that can be applied to many different aspects of anybody's life. Basically, it's telling us not to think too much into things and try. To never give up on something, especially if it's something you know you want no matter how nervous or scared you are to pursue it. It's also an idea that I try to implement in my own life. However, I've found myself thinking: How many times do you need to fail or be turned down to stop trying? To know it's not meant to be?
This idea can be practiced in and relates to many different areas of a person's life. With people, relationships, jobs and dreams. This was an idea that came up a lot in a past relationship in my life. I constantly kept trying to keep my relationship with this person, but as time went on, things stayed the same. I felt like I was the one who cared about keeping them in my life and not the other way around. It felt very one-sided. But no matter what happened, I persisted. As time continued to pass, I realized that maybe it was time for me to give up. This is where the confusion with this quote comes in. I see sayings and quotes such as this one and think, "If this person is someone I truly believe in and want in my life, why would I think too much into it and give up?"
So, going back to my main question: When do you know it's time to stop trying for that specific job, person or dream and move on to another one? Maybe it's not that deep. Or maybe the rejection keeps coming from that specific thing because there is something better waiting for you. Maybe a better interpretation of the quote is to continue trying, not for a specific goal, but to be your best self.
To stop thinking about how other people are looking at you and just try things. Stop discussing how you need to act and how you should act. The key to this is accepting that sometimes the things you desire don't work out and that behind every "failure" is something even better. Being yourself and being confident is what's going to attract the thing you never thought you'd have or be able to attain.
Letting go of certain dreams or people is not giving up. Continuing to persist in being the best human being that you can possibly be without thinking about how others are perceiving you is trying, is doing. And maybe that's what this idea means. Not to hold on to one idea or one failure, but to keep an open mind and never stop trying for yourself. It may be hard to let go of a long-time ambition in your life, but you never know what could happen if you open the door to something new. Overall, the idea is that you should never give up or stop trying. Just keep your mind and your life open to the infinite number of possibilities, opportunities and experiences in the world. You never know what will come your way.
