Hey there,

It’s been a while. Actually, it’s been a long while, but I hope everything is good. It seems like life is great on your end. I can tell you have been doing great things through your Facebook posts. I know it’s not the same because it’s through a screen, but they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

Things have definitely happened since the last time we have seen each other. First off, we are not so little anymore. We grew up. Physically and mentally, we are different people. We still have our roots, but we changed. Hopefully, all for the better. High school, of course. Yep, that happened. New friends and new interests. Years worth of stories and laughter. Prom happened and then so did graduation. Congratulations, by the way.

High school was an experience. We went from baby freshmen to young adult seniors. It’s kind of weird, but awesome. Now, we are in college and it’s like where has the time gone? We have to act like grownups, but then soon we can’t act anymore, and we just have to be.

There’s no one or nothing to blame as to why we grew apart. It wasn’t like we quit talking because there was a fight or a petty argument. It was just that we grew up and we ventured out. Over time, it gradually happened. We traveled different paths, quite literally: different junior highs, different high schools and now different universities. At a time, we talked and talked and then more time passed and we stopped. But life happened. It’s still happening. We got sidetracked with things and sadly, we became a like here and a comment there, but all on good terms.

Although we don’t see each other often and we don’t talk on a daily basis, I just wanted to thank you for the friendship we’ve shared and that I wish you well with everything, with life. I hope you get to do all the things we use to dream about and said that we would do when we were younger. Remember all of the grand things we use to come up with? Our imagination is becoming reality.

Things are different but in good ways. We may have grown, but we are still alike in a lot of ways, too. I have recently come across my friendship bracelet from third grade. Maybe one day we can get together and actually talk, rehash the past and take a trip down memory lane. You were my best friend, one of my first friends. We did a lot together, sleepovers, plays and can’t forget that we were Christmas tree decorating extraordinaires.

We may be distant, but I just wanted to let you know I still call you my friend. And as an old friend, I wish you luck with everything that you will do and I wish you best with who you become.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
