Throughout the years, I have come to know all different kinds of people. I have been lucky enough to come across the most amazing, the most unique, the most inspiring and the best of people in this world. But there have also been those who have tried to tear me down, tell me I wasn't smart enough, pretty enough or good enough. In particular, there has been one person in this world, who has been there since day one.
To my best friend and the girl who never gave up on me from seventh grade all the way to college, thank you for being the one person who has never done anything but support me for who I am, lift me up and believe that I can get through anything in this world even if I never believed it myself. From the days where I could not find the courage to get out of bed and face the world, thank you for being the one who decided to stay home from school with me. Thank you for sticking by my side even though I wasn't one of your "cool" friends. Thank you for inspiring me to fight through everything and anything. It is because of you that I have found the strength to keep going, keep fighting and to keep believing that I have the ability to do anything in this world. Thank you for standing by my side through every loss and heartbreak, through every hardship and fight and for sticking around when most people would have left. Thank you for being there when I could not find the hope to keep going and for showing me that there is always hope if you look for it.
It is because of you that I have found this hope. Thank you for holding my hand through everything, through the loss we both had to face, when we both had to say goodbye to someone so important to us. Thank you for being there for the days when I could not face reality and being the inspiration that showed me how bright the future truly can be. Somehow, the two girls in middle school who were complete opposites, ended up as the most amazing duo. Thank you for showing me the strength I have inside me, the strength that took me so long to find.
We made a promise to each other that no matter what happens in this world, in either of our lives, neither of us would ever leave. It is this promise that gives me the hope that tomorrow will always be a better and brighter day than today and that there is always good in this world if we look for it. You have always believed that I am going to be okay, that I have so many amazing moments ahead of me and it is because of you that I am finally able to see that. We're all just trying to find hope in a world that sometimes doesn't seem very full of it. But it is because of you that I have the courage to look around me and see all that I do have. The things that bring a smile to our faces, the people that bring a sparkle to our lives. Thank you for bringing this sparkle to me. I would not be here without you.
