Dear Friend,
I get it. Your early 20s are rough. Three years ago, we were all graduating high school with dreams of drinks, dudes, and degrees dancing around under our high school graduation caps. For four years, we were preached the typical system: go to college, find a boyfriend (and a major you actually enjoy), get married after graduation, and produce a life (and kids) you're proud of. But in high school, no one tells you about failed classes, changing your mind 27 billion times about your major, and the stress that comes with juggling classes, socializing, Netflix, and sleep, and I mean good deep sleep; not just the Zzz's you catch during lectures.
Another piece of advice one doesn't usually hear in high school is that it's OK not to go to college. It's OK that you are 21, working, and still clueless about life. Let's get real, even Rachel worked as a barista before Ralph Lauren.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
We live in a time where one can decide to dedicate their life to the military three years before ordering their first drink at a bar (legally, let's be honest here). We live in a world where one is expected to know their lifelong career by senior year of high school. Truth is, most of us, even in college, have change our major a minimum of three times. Some quit, some graduate, and some never go. That's life. Your life, your decision. You change. Life changes. And thank GOD for that.
You are exactly where you need to be in life. You are who you need to be. You have the talent, worth, and experience to make it wherever you want. You were not put on this world to remain stuck, depressed, and feeling as though you do not make a difference. Whether you know it or not, you have made a difference to me. Do not live your life in fear of failure or mistakes, for they have paved your road to success. I hope one day you will look back at this time in your life and be proud of being stuck. I promise you, being at the bottom will make the view from the top so much sweeter one of these days. Don't remain stuck. Our world needs you. I need you.
With love,
Your friend
