Whether you compare your friendship to Meredith and Christina's from Grey's anatomy or Piglet and Pooh when they say, "We'll be friends forever, won't we?", I believe a lot of us have that one soul in our lives that makes everything 1000x better and more bearable. They see you at your highest highs, and lowest lows. They'll travel the world with you (quite literally sometimes), help you at nearly any hour of the day, and travel through life's peak and valley's right by your side. Come hell or high water, they'll be with you always.
So this one's for all of our "person's", the one's that make living this crazy life that much more bearable. This is a thank you for all of the times you have remained with us, even when we might not have been the best friend we could have been.
First, thank you for recognizing that my crazy matches your crazy. Whether it be that one time in class where you both geeked out together, or the moment you simply discovered you enjoyed the same type of music, those can be the moments that start friendships of a lifetime. So thank you for putting up with my crazy.
Second, thank you for knowing me better than I know myself sometimes. Once in awhile, I need a good kick in the butt to make me realize that I have the ability to say "this is not how the story ends," and then change it. You are the constant in my life that keeps me from giving up, or throwing in the towel. You inspire me daily to be a better me. You are the person that tells me I'm resilient and that though it rained on me, I make it seem as every drop feels good.
Third, thank you for the laughter so hard it hurt my tummy, made me run out of breath, and brought me to tears. Those are the rare and precious moments in life that I would not want to share with anyone else. Laughter truly is the best medicine, especially when shared with those we love.
Fourth, thank you for never being like anyone else. That sounds funny, doesn't it? I'm not thanking you for being you, but rather, thanking you for being different. I'm thanking you for showing me that it's 100% acceptable to be the one that stands out in a crowd, the one who disagrees, the one who knows what they want, the one who isn't afraid of who they are. Thank you for showing me that it's okay to "stay weird."
Lastly, thank you for being a constant light in a world that can seem so dim. I promise you will go so far in whatever you wish to pursue, and no matter the distance, and come what may, I will be right here rooting for you.
Thank you so much.
