You have no idea what kind of impact you've had on me. I haven't thought about our three week relationship for years. But now that we're sophomores in college, I'm beginning to realize how naive I was... So here's a letter to you, to try and apologize for breaking your heart, but also to let you know that you were a wonderful introduction to the 'dating world.'
You were the first guy to ever tell me that I was pretty. And after being made fun of day after day at my locker in middle school, you have no idea how much it meant for you to say that to me.
The few times we hugged in the hallway without the teacher seeing was the only adrenaline rush I got in middle school. Thanks for helping me be a 'rebel.'
The notes you slipped into my locker, and the way you talked me up to all of your friends made me feel like the most prized possession in the world.
Then you told me you loved me over a text after my bedtime, and I broke up with you because I was scared it was getting too serious. I'm sorry for hurting you. I'm sorry for being the first girl to break your heart.
But then two days later, you started dating my best friend. So I guess you weren't that upset about it.
Long story short, I want to say 'thank you' to the guy who began my journey of learning to navigate the dating world.
