Dear Tiger and Midnight,

Happy birthday to the loves of my life! I know that you guys probably don’t understand the importance of your birthday, but it’s a very special day, and it involves good food and gifts. I know gifts wrapped in wrapping paper are your absolute favorite. I hope you like the gifts I got this year, and enjoy your cake. Your birthday was the day you two were born. Even though I got you two when you guys were 5 months old, I’m beyond blessed to have been able to celebrate two birthdays with you both.

Even though you’re turning 2, you’re still my babies! You guys are changing right before my eyes. It makes me sad that you’re no longer the small kittens you once were, but watching you guys grow up makes me happy. Your meows are changing and now sound different, and you're getting more adventurous and daring by jumping on top of our fridge and glass curio cabinet. You guys are more emotional by making it very clear when you’re unhappy, and making it visible when you’re happy.

A lot has happened in these past two years that we are celebrating. You saw me complete my freshmen and sophomore year of college, and FaceTimed me when I was vacationing in Florida. I made an Instagram for you two, you helped me get better when I had the flu, you guys got me through life’s trials and tribulations... this list can go on forever.

June 15th is your special day, so I am going to make sure we enjoy it. I pray that we celebrate many more birthdays together. Being your mom makes me the happiest girl in the world. You guys make my life better, my days brighter, and my world is complete when I’m with you two.

Love,

Your Mom

P.S. I know you two can’t read so I’ll just read it to you.

P.S.S I love you so much!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
