Dear Disney Channel,
Long time, no see. The little kids that use to watch you religiously are all grown up now but we all miss you.
You were such an enormous piece of our childhood. Do you know how much I miss flipping through the channels and seeing the handsome face of Phil Diffy trying to make his way through the 21st century? I miss Brandy, from the infamous "Brandy and Mr. Whiskers," who was the only talking dog that existed. I miss watching stars, like Raven, standing up for things that a lot of young people struggled with like weight. Not making snarky comments like the one made on "Shake It Up" that said, “'I could just eat you up, well if I ate.”
Remember how Miley and Jackson were born into money like the kids on Jessie except they worked for what they wanted? Robbie Ray handed them nothing. Miley worked as Hannah and Jackson worked at Rico’s. If they wanted something, Robbie taught them to earn it. But the kids on Jessie demand and expect things.
I miss movies like "Stuck in the Suburbs," "Cadet Kelly," "Max Keeble’s Big Move," "Jump In," "The Cheetah Girls," "The 13th Year," etc. You always knew it was about to be the best two hours of your day when you saw the kids doing jumps and splits while the “Let’s watch a Disney Channel Movie” theme song played.
I understand you can’t run the same shows forever but it is almost like you forgot about us. You started in 1983. Whether that was a few years before our age group was born or a decade, we grew up as you grew up.
Everyone has to move on eventually but do we have to move on completely? Can’t the millennials get a week every month or a day every week full of our shows and movies only? With such busy schedules during the day, it is hard to stay awake until late at night when you play our shows. It makes me sad to think that one day I will mention how perfect Phil and Keely were together and someone from the younger generation will look at me like Alex looked at Justin’s talking zit.
We had some good times together. No matter what, I will always love you and thankyou for bringing me so much happiness when I was young.
Sincerely,
The Millennials
