It's 8:50 in the evening on August 23rd, 2017. You, my sweet nephew, are sitting on the couch, snuggling with your favorite blankie, and your Lightning McQueen race car, watching your favorite movie.
While it seemed like just a normal day for the most darling 3 year old I know, there is a big surprise coming your way tomorrow.
You are about to be given the greatest gift: a baby brother.
There will be times, Jaxon, that baby Levi will drive you absolutely crazy. When he's hogging your mama, or when he tattles on you, or when he steals your toys, it won't always be easy to be patient with him.
But, because I know who your mama is, I know without a shadow of a doubt that you will forgive him. That you will patiently take his hand, you will teach him, you will watch him grow, you will share with him. I know that you will share your deepest secrets with him, that you will always choose him first, that you'll defend him, encourage him, and protect him. You will fight his battles right alongside him. Because that's what your mama did for me.
I know that he will look up to you. He will steal your toys and clothes because he'll want to be just like his cool big brother. He will tell all of his friends about the fun things you do together. He will watch all of your sporting events, cheering you on from the sidelines, hoping to someday be just like you. Because that's what I did with your mama.
Jax, there will be times that you and Levi don't get along, times when you don't want to include him, times when he couldn't possibly be anymore annoying. But I can promise you, he will always be there for you. He will be your best friend, your partner in crime, your lookout, your secret-keeper, your biggest pain in the behind. And it will be the greatest, single most important relationship in your life.
You will walk beside each other through some hard seasons. You will celebrate incredible victories together. You will deal with defeat together. You will overcome obstacles together. And buddy, it is going to be the greatest adventure.
You are both so blessed to have the most amazing parents. You've got two amazing sets of grandparents. You've got aunts, uncles, friends, cousins. But most importantly, you'll have each other. Savor it, enjoy it, and thank God every day for it. I know I do.
