Hey buddy,
I'm writing you a letter even though you totally can't read it (I'll make sure mom passes the message along) to let you know how much I'm going to miss you when I leave for college. You're my favorite face to see in the morning and the most exciting face to see when I walk through the door. You have been there for me through everything and I couldn't ask for a better best friend. You have taught me about what love means and what loyalty feels like.
Having a dog is one of the most incredible experiences, and leaving him behind is one of the hardest. I want to let you know that my room door will always be open even if I won't be sleeping in my bed, and that I'll make sure someone always sneaks you an extra treat. I know you might be confused when you don't see me around the house anymore, and you might wonder where I went, but just know I'll be home soon.
Thank you for keeping mom and dad company and for making our house feel like a home. Being away at college is tough and sometimes a hug from you would make a lot of things better. You have made this summer at home so much more special knowing I get to see you everyday.
I know this probably sounds like I'm a crazy dog person, and well, to be honest, I totally am. When I'm away at school I always think about you, and habits like picking food up really fast if it falls never truly die. I get way too excited to show pictures of you to close friends and occasionally a random stranger. I talk about you a lot and if conversations come up about dogs, I make sure to let everyone know about how smart, caring, and funny you are.
You have made my world so much brighter just by being in it. You comfort me in times when I need it most and I never want you to feel like I've left you behind. My bed isn't the same if you're not fast asleep (and snoring) at the bottom of it. You're my best friend and I wish you knew all the love I have for you.
I'll miss your wagging tail, cold nose kisses and snuggles everyday until I come home.
Love,
Your crazy owner.
