It wasn't even a decade ago mothers would strap their girls into a training bra as soon as a little bit of chest started to develop. From that point on, girls were taught putting on a bra is an essential part of their daily routine. It was burned into a woman's mind to wake up and put a bra on (if they weren't sleeping in one already,) because even in their own home, they shouldn't be comfortable "exposing" themselves.
At a young age, the idea of the bra was sexual and it symbolized womanhood, every girl was excited to finally get her first bra, but in a wider perspective, girls were told they need to cover up to prevent distracting the men they encountered.
In the past century, bras quickly became the most important article of clothing for women, and that is due to the over-sexualized outlook on breasts.Thank you to whoever brought back the 70's trend of going bra-less. Women have finally started to realize, again, what a luxury it is to not wear one. Not just around the house either, it is almost a complete norm to find women in public who choose not to bother with the undergarment at all. The best part is, there doesn't have to be anything sexual about it. There are several reasons why all women should ditch their bras, here are a few of the best.
1. Ditch the bra because it is empowering.
So many women are still uncomfortable with the fact they have nipples. Guys have them too and theirs serve no purpose. It's time to #freethenip. Maybe don't go out completely shirtless and get hit with a public nudity charge, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with sporting a backless dress or any type of clothing without a bra. It's actually a trend that will make a woman more comfortable with her body, just the way it is.
2. Ditch the bra because they are expensive.
The market of bras doesn't make it any easier to get rid of them. The Victoria Secret models do a great job of advertising their product. Bras. these days, are close to works of art. But aside from being aesthetically pleasing, they can still be wildly uncomfortable and very expensive. It's not just the name brand stores that are responsible for the overpriced garments either. Anywhere a woman buys her bra, they're going to have to pay at least $20 for a well-designed bra. Why pay that much for something no one is ever going to see? (Unless it's lingerie, I can totally back up a sheer bralette.)
3. Ditch the bra and learn to love the body that's yours.
Society has also done a great job of portraying the perfect woman with a slim body with perky breasts. Bras weren't originally made with underlying padding that gave the girls an extra lift, yet that is the trend of fashion at work. Women should feel comfortable with their natural shape, because at the end of the day when the bra comes off, that's all they have.
