Harry Potter defines our generation. It is a series of magic, love, hope, bravery, and the triumph of good over evil. So much can be learned from Harry and his magical adventures. These are some of the best life lessons from the best literature of this century:

1. Love conquers all

The whole series revolves around how Lily Potter gave her life for Harry, and her protection and love keeps Harry alive... Something Voldemort does not have in him.

2. Friends can get you through anything

Scared, Sad, Angry, Happy, Nervous...true friends will always be there for you.

3. Love is scary, heartbreak is sad, but true love is forever

Professor Snape spent his life protecting the child of the woman he loved. He lived his whole life in sorrow and heartbreak, but never gave up on the one he loved.

4. Death shouldn't be scary

"After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.” –The Sorcerer's Stone

5. Family will always be there

Your family will always be with you... In the good times and the bad.

6. People will surprise you

Not everyone turns out to be who you think they are. Some may betray you, some may love you, and some may spend their whole life dedicated to helping you.

7. A life without love is not a good life

"Do not pity the dead. Pity the living. And above all, pity those without love." - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Love can help you get through anything

8. There is magic in all of us

You may not have a wand or go to Hogwarts, but there is a light in all human beings, a little piece of magic within us all.

Find your love, your bravery, your loyalty, and your magic...

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
