Dear Steve, John, Jenna, Rainn, Ed, Angela, Mindy, B.J., Oscar, Brian, Phyllis, Ellie, Kate, Creed, Leslie, Craig, Zach, Catherine and Paul,
From the millions of viewers and I, thank you. You have entered the homes of so many people, whether it was when new seasons were being filmed, or now through Netflix. You continue to grace the world with your incredible acting. It is now quite common for my family to gather around the TV when my brother and I come home from college and watch two or three episodes of "The Office" together.
All cheesiness aside, it has become another way for my family to bond. I do admit, though, it took a little while for my parents to warm up to the show, between Michael’s “That’s what she said” jokes and Dwight’s tendency to, well, be Dwight. But I was informed by my youngest brother who still resides at home, that my parents actually started watching the episodes in order and they are, get this, on season eight! I am one proud daughter! So thank you, cast of "The Office," for bringing my family even closer together.
Thank you for all the laughs. You all are hilarious, and each character’s sense of humor fits into the show impeccably. Between Jim’s perfect facial expressions, Andy’s unnecessary singing, Stanley’s unenthusiastic attitude, Dwight’s overenthusiastic attitude, Kevin’s ability to only do math when it’s in terms of “pies” despite being an accountant, Angela’s obsession with her cats, Phyllis’ grandmotherly persona, and Michael’s mean yet hysterical hatred toward Toby, you have provided your viewers with so much material to laugh about.
For example, if you consider your work in the episode “Stress Relief Part 1,” (my absolute favorite episode of "The Office"), it is a gold mine of wonderful acting paired with some of the best comedy I have ever witnessed on television. As it starts off with Dwight’s unnecessary fire drill, the episode only proceeds with more and more opportunities for laughter. Ask any of my friends and they will say they have heard me reenact the CPR training scene more times than they can count.
Thank you for teaching us important lessons. Whether it be the friendship that eventually blossoms between Dwight and Jim, Michael’s adorable relationship with Holly, or one of TV's most loved romances, Jim and Pam’s, you have truly taught us that good things come to those who wait. Thank you for teaching us that family is not just the people you are related to. Throughout the seasons, we saw how you all came to love each other like family, and that was seriously awesome to see your characters develop in that sense.
I cannot tell you how many laughs I have shared with others over your amazing acting, so thank you for taking on the roles of your characters, you all have made "The Office" into one of the most loved shows of our generation.
Thanks again,
Fans of "The Office"
