You Learn So Much After A Year, If You Actually Act On What You Learn

Many people say the same things every year, but what if there’s more to learn than meeting or losing people in your life?

The question here today is what impact did 2018 have on me. For most they'd say new people came and went in their life's. But there is more to that, than something that happens every year.

Every year that passes each one of us learns just that must more. We adapt to new discoveries of life and we learn more about ourselves than we previously knew.

So as I sit here and wonder what 2018 did for me, I suggest you do the same.

See, 2018 has been a year of challenges, and obstacles that reveal parts of ourselves that we may not want to see or haven't seen. As for many people it meant change, changing your views, your motivation and overall changing yourself.

But at the end of it we are still faced with this one question, what did it effect in my life?

I fall somewhere in the category of change and self awareness. This past year I've had to deal with homelessness, financial issues, lack of motivation. Above it all I had to face the fact I didn't like who I was.

I relied on others to help me through my 'tough' times and never really took a second to see the damage I was inflicting on myself.

We learn a great deal each year that passes but with that, it's about overcoming and accepting the lessons life throws our way. It's quite simple, yet the hardest thing to grasp.

My lessons were about never letting the harshness of life determine who I am, no matter what life threw at me. How no financial setting nor escape from reality can make me lose sight of my goals in life. What are your lessons?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
