Ephesians 1:7-8

Lavished
Laura Pepper

The extravagance of the glory of God has been overlooked by so many as the world shouts so loudly into our souls to worship people and put fame on a pedestal that will lead to emptiness.

This need for our souls to worship something is a part of our nature, but if it is not The Lord we worship, then it ultimately destroys us. It will never satisfy us. There will always be something in our world that is bigger and better than the next. Trends fade away. Famous people lose popularity. Life keeps on moving, but The Lord never changes.

God is never changing and never failing. He fully satisfies our hearts because there is no end to knowing Him. God's character is so rich in mercy and awe that devotion to Him is worth it.

Ephesians 1:7-8 says, "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that He lavished on us..."

This lavishment is so extravagant that God gave up His own Son so that we could know more about how beautiful He is.

Grace. It overwhelms our human spirit because we have never seen anything like it. It seems too good to be true-- yet it is so good, and it is the truth. There truly is nothing like it.

It is so lavished upon us that there is no way we could ever deserve it. It is not earned, but it had such a high cost. It cost the life of God Himself.

When Jesus rose again from the grave, sin was beaten and death was conquered for all of eternity. All we have to do is simply trust in Him and ask Him to come into our lives to save us.

As a young girl, I gave my life to Jesus, and I can see a noticeable difference in how I live my life as I grow to learn more about The Lord. Now finishing out my first year of college, I can see God's grace walking with me every step of the way. This year, I received a necklace with a cross on it that had the word purpose written across it, and that became my main focal point about how to grow in Him.

I realized that He is my Savior and my friend, but He has to become my daily purpose for living to truly understand more about who He is and how vast His glory is. He captivated my heart to see that no matter how far deep I go in discovering Him there is always more about Him to find.

Once that happened, The Lord began working on my heart to pursue His plan for my life no matter what. In this life, there will be hardship and hurt, but in the end, eternity in the presence of The Lord will be worth it.

His love is lavished upon us, and all we have to do is accept it.

Again I say, it's so worth it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
