A story about a young girl who disappeared five years ago.
Lauren Spierer, a beautiful 4'11" blue eyed girl, has been missing for the past five years. I grew up with Lauren in Edgemont which is a small town in Scarsdale, New York a part of Westchester County. I've known Lauren since I was eight years old. We used to be on the same basketball team together, went to the same high school and actually had a lot in common. Lauren was one of the nicer, so-called "popular kids" and was very fashion-forward; she always knew how to look good. I kind of looked up to Lauren in that way and was a little jealous. Lauren went to college at Indiana University in Bloomington; it's known to be a big party school. Her parents thought that this was a generally safe area, but then one very early morning of June 3, 2011, Lauren went missing. 4:30 a.m. was the last time she was seen alive.
Private investigators say that Lauren was last seen on a street corner in Bloomington, Indiana leaving a "friends" apartment intoxicated, and on cocaine. She had been pre-gaming at another apartment before heading out to Kilroy's Sports Bar down the street. Kilroy's is a very popular sports bar in downtown Bloomington known to let in underage college students. Lauren was 20 years old at the time she went missing. She didn't get to the bar until around 2 a.m. and by that time, she was already very intoxicated. At the back patio of the bar, there is a small area of sand to make people feel like they're at the beach and more relaxed even in a bar setting. She left her shoes, phone, and keys at the bar which gives some intake of how incoherent she was.
Lauren left the bar with an acquaintance Corey Rossman, and went back to her apartment complex called Smallwood Plaza. When arriving at her apartment, they literally ran into some guys in the hallway who didn't like how Corey was handling poor Lauren, and the guys get into a fist fight. Lauren and Corey walked down to his apartment a few blocks away. By 3 a.m., Lauren is seen by surveillance cameras stumbling and falls down, smacks her head on the concrete sidewalk. Corey throws Lauren over his shoulder since she clearly is incapable of walking anymore. When arriving at Corey's apartment, he vomits on the ground and goes to bed. His roommate takes Lauren next-door to Jason "Jay" Rosebaum's apartment. Jay tells Lauren to lay down and try to sleep it off and go home later in the morning. But to no avail, she refuses and says she wants to go home. So Jay being the "nice guy," walks her out the door and watches her go up to 11th Street and College Ave.
He was the last one to see Lauren alive.
Lauren's story really hits home to me personally. This could have happened to anyone. If Lauren's friends actually cared about her, then they would have walked her home to her apartment. They wouldn't have let her walk alone. Don't ever let an intoxicated friend walk alone anywhere.
