Being particularly fond of animals, and being apart from my dear dog for a while, I have decided to write this article, explaining why the beloved dog breed, Labradors, are not only the best type of dog, but perhaps the best kind of pet one could have.

Throughout these years of being in possession of a lab, I have found certain things I absolutely love about them. Here are five reasons to get a Labrador:

1. They genuinely care about your well- being.

Unlike some other dogs, Labradors are sensitive to your emotions. They understand when you're upset, and they'll try their best to help you out. If my dog has taught me anything, it's that I'm not alone.

2. They aren't afraid to have fun.

Labradors love to have fun. Whether it's dragging a cardboard box around or run around as fast as they can, you can be sure that these dogs never take life too seriously. Labs are good at reminding you that it's okay to be a little silly and enjoy yourself.

3. They enjoy a healthy exercise.

Another great thing about Labradors is that they encourage a healthy lifestyle by needing consistent walks. Going for walks can increase your physical fitness, as well as give you a better appreciation for nature and help you become aware of your surroundings.

4.They want to be involved.

The first time we had a birthday at our house, I realized my dog was excited to be apart of the event. She would be running around, trying to participate. From that year on, we made sure she got a "present" to open too. Labradors love to be apart of your life. They want to be there for you.

5. They love you no matter what.

No matter how crazy your hair is and how many mistakes you make, your Labrador will always love you. You don't have to be afraid your Lab is going to judge you. That wagging tail and silly grin just says it all.

So, if you are wondering what kind of pet to get, may I suggest a Labrador? You will be surprised to find more than you bargained for. A Lab is more than a dog, it's a good friend.
