In my 20 years of life, I have had the honor of owning four Labrador Retrievers. Thankfully they are all still alive, but I will say it loud and with too much confidence that the Labrador Retriever is the best breed of dog ever. So without further delay... here are all the reasons why labs are the best breed of dog.

1. They are incredibly friendly

When your arch nemesis becomes your bestie.

2. They're good with kids

Olivia Jacques

When I was a child, I used to dress my dog up and he would just sit there and take it.

3. Since they retrieve, they're great hunting partners

Or you can just throw a stick in the water and they can go after it.

4. They're very good running partners

Olivia Jacques

They're not small so they can keep up. They aren't mini-horses so you have control over your run.

5. They are quick learners

Olivia Jacques

Major key especially when trying to potty train them.

6. You can choose which color lab you want

Olivia Jacques

You really can't go wrong, though.

7. They're loyal through it all

Olivia Jacques

Through thick and thin.

8. They are the CUTEST pups

Olivia Jacques

I mean, come on. Look at that face.

9. They really are your best friend

Olivia Jacques

Even though they are just dogs, at the end of the day they're so much more. They're just like a member of the family. They know when you're upset. They let you annoy them. They sit there when you vent to them and they're the best secret keepers.

But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
