This past weekend My friends and i got to go see the new movie Kubo and the two strings. since most of the time when i go to see a movie i look into it at lease a little but this time i only watched a small 30 second trailer and was instantly wanting to see it. to save you some time i loved it! i have tried my best to not give any spoilers so enjoy!
Characters
So the movie starts off pretty epic and with lots of amazing visuals but i find what made this movie shine was the characters. the movie focused around 3 main people Monkey (or Mr. Monkey), Beetle, and Kubo himself. each character added many things to the progression of the story and elements to each other as characters. Monkey was more of a Teacher and guide for the world and its inhabitants with every changing situation Monkey would be supportive and give helpful guidance. Beetle was by far my favorite character since anyone who knows me, knows i like puns and lets just say for a beetle He was crushing it! beetle came as a defender brute of the trio with his skills with the bow and sword making him very valuable but the best humor of the movie came from him. Beetle was by far my favorite character and i would watch again just for his dialogue! Kubo was a fun character but was honestly outcast by the other two. Though this is not his fault but rather the characters them self that did this. Kubo was presented with a very simplistic story and as a character he just had to grow and mature a little. at times Kubo seemed to mature for his nature at times but where he was at the beginning of the films would explain that, as a character this caused little character growth in general. All together Kubo was a fun and creative character and i greatly liked him.

Story
The story of Kubo and the Two strings was interesting and fun to watch. Due to how i think and process information that is given to me i was predicting and catching things through the whole movie and pretty much had all the twits figured out by mid way through the film. However the journey they went through was so griping i had no problem with that after a bit i was more wondering how they would reveal the information vs if they would figure it out. the way each character influenced the story and morphed it made me excited to continue watching and i never found myself wanting it to hurry up. I was even contented listening to kubo's story in the beginning and wanting to hear the ending of it like everyone else did. I will say the final "boss " of the film was a little out of nowhere and honestly was anticlimactic but where it lacked in epicness it made up for it in emotions, and lets just say emotions hit me hard. through the whole film the opposing force made me feel dread and frustration ( which is what it is suppose to do!) and every time the characters finished another peace of the puzzle i felt contented and wanting more!
Story 4/ 5
the Movie was fantastic and honestly deserves your watch. as a art student it was also amazing how in the end of the film they show a short animation and the process of the stop motion animation Technics they did which was fantastic to watch. All in all the only hiccup the film had was in its easy to read story ( which is only bad if you are into predictions and theories) but mainly in the slight rush of the end of the film. If you have not seen it yet definitely watch Kubo and the two strings you will be glad you did!
