When you think of Georgia I'm sure the first thing that comes to your mind is "Hot Lanta" or Georgia Peaches.

There are certain things that living in Georgia teaches you and everyone loves. Maybe its our southern hospitality, maybe its something else but you're sure to get a smile, someone opening the door for you, or a "yes mam" or "sir" anywhere you go. It doesn't matter what part of the state you live in we are all connected by this sweet state somehow.

So, you know you're from Georgia when....

1. There is nothing like Atlanta traffic.... no really its the worst thing on this earth.

You'd seriously consider pulling your hair out rather than sitting on 285, 85, 75 or 400 during the rush hour.

2. You pronounce Atlanta like...

Add-lanna not at-lant-a.

3. Street signs in ATL.

So many roads are named after peach trees... you can easily get confused in the city.

4. The varsity.

You haven't done Atlanta right if you don't go there and eat all the greasy food , which is a heart attack waiting to happen.

5. You know the Shane Co. Commercial by heart.

6. Your accent.

Everyone that comes from out of state expects you to have this deep southern accent.

7. When your airport is the largest in the country.

If you want to make your flight it's best to get to the airport 1 1/2 hours early, unless you wanna be that one person running to your gate like a mad man.

8. When the weather channel predicts snow.

WHENEVER SNOW IS PREDICTED, EVERYWHERE IS CLOSED AND THE GROCERY STORE IS A MAD HOUSE!

9. Weather is unpredictable.

You'll literally experience all four seasons in one week.

10. When it comes to college football season.

Football is a religion here in Georgia, and every Saturday we spend all day eating finger foods and cheering on our favorite team. When it comes to the GA vs Ga Tech game, you have to pick sides. Whether you side with Ga or tech , or live in a house divided by different teams, you know that "georgians" represent their teams with pride.

11. Baseball= Atlanta Braves

YES, you better know how to do the Tomahawk Chop. If not, then you will be frowned upon.

12. Friday Nights

Friday nights meant high school football and tailgating before the games.

13. "Yes mam, no sir, please, and thank you."

Those words were the main words our parents made sure were drilled into our heads growing up.

14. Your GPA...

Your parents pushed you to constantly keep a 3.0 and chose a GA college... HOPE SCHOLARSHIP.

15. The only drink we know is sweet tea.

Sweet tea is a main essential to us folks in GA, and if you don't like it you'll stick out like a sore thumb.

16. Church.

Almost everyone you know is baptist or methodist.

17. YOU learned how to..

You learned how to shoot a gun before learning how to divide.

18. "YA'LL."

YA'LL is a word that describes two or more people.

19. You know the difference...

You know the difference between a redneck, a southerner, and a hillbilly.

20. Southern Essentials = sweet tea, mashed potatoes, biscuits, and all southern comfort food... & Southern Comfort.

21. Soft Drinks...

When your waitress/waiter asks what kind of soft drink you want, you ask for a coke, not soda, not pop (silly yankees). A COKE!

22. Chick Fil A & Waffle House.

Chick Fil A and Waffle House are the finest fast food throughout the land.

and last but not least...

23. No matter where you are....

You'll always know the lyrics to "Welcome to Atlanta".

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
