Get To Know Your PINK Reps At Penn State

I don’t know about you, but when I was living my young middle school years, I would have sold my soul for a new PINK hoodie. Luckily, Victoria’s Secret PINK is not just a brand we all knew and loved growing up, but as the years have gone by, and as we’ve grown up, so has PINK! With constant trends to please their customers, one of PINK’s biggest hits for college-aged students is their collegiate line. You can find your very own big name school plastered over your PINK hoodies, tees, sweats, and more, but you probably already knew that. What you probably didn’t know is that your campus, here at Penn State University, has its very own PINK Campus Representative Program, and, it gets even better than that; Odyssey was able to sit down with our PSU PINK Campus Reps, Caley McCormick and Halle Proper to learn a little bit more about them and their experience representing PINK here at Penn State.

Odyssey: What made you want to become a PINK Campus Rep?

Caley: I wanted to become a PINK Rep because I have always loved the brand. I had an older sister who was also a Campus Rep at Penn State and I was always so jealous of her!

Halle: I’ve always loved the brand PINK! When I saw in the PINK Nation app that they were hiring Campus Representatives I immediately applied. I didn’t even know they had that and was excited to interview and learn more.

Odyssey: What can you say that you learned at PINK that is invaluable?

Caley: I have learned the value of customer satisfaction which is all about being able to relate to your target market. As a Campus Rep, we get to share our love of the brand with the girls who are shopping it which makes the experience so fun!

Halle: I learned from being a Campus Rep with PINK that it is so important to understand your target audience. PINK does a great job at offering products that their audience would like. The brand is always trying to stay up-to-date on the latest trends in order to keep their customers satisfied.

Odyssey: Name or describe an event/project that you threw that you were really proud of?

Caley: An event/project my co-rep and I were really proud of was our promotion for the PINK Bus because we were able to exceed our semester goal of 2,000 followers on our Instagram (@PennStateVSPINK).

Halle: We set up a scavenger hunt on campus the day before [an] event and posted pictures of the PINK dog at popular locations on our Instagram. The first girl at each of the four locations won a free PINK gift card.

“The greatest thing about being a PINK Rep was just being able to work with a brand that is so relevant to me and my community,” explained McCormick. If you’re interested in applying for the PINK Campus Representative Program, applications are open now for next year’s team!

What better two things to represent: Penn State and PINK! We are!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
