By the time this article goes live, I will be on the couch with my knee locked recovering from my 4th knee surgery, surrounded by ice-packs and starting probably the fourth season of Jane the Virgin. Perks of recovering right? If you've had knee problems, and knee surgeries you'll relate to almost everything on this list. Or maybe I'm just best friends with my surgeon and his secretary. (I mean it's been five years and I know when they hire new staff.)
People don't understand the pain and discomfort, and the sarcasm that comes with post surgeries, and leading up to surgeries. You have to find humor in the fact that you're a total train wreck. If you've had knee surgeries and need a laugh and someone to relate to: This is for you.
1. Your knee locks at the most inconvenient time
In the middle of a lecture, or maybe during a live theatre performance.
2. Your knee doctor and you will become good friends
I know the medical lingo and he's impressed. (We don't have a handshake but I wish we did.)
3. There are some moves you just shouldn't do in bed
Or all of them.
4. When you hear you'll need surgery again, but you know what to expect
5. You will become best friends with your knee doctor's secretary
She has the best candies out always.
6. You WILL have limitations but still, want to test the waters
7. Being able to straighten your knee is a huge accomplishment and needs to be celebrated
8. The frustration when you hear you need another surgery
9. When your physical therapist isn't surprised to see you crutching back into the office
10. Being a pro on crutches
I've always wanted to be Crutchie in Newsies, and well, I have the experience.
