Kim Kardashian West and Kendall Jenner were invited to the Emmys last night and needless to say they were the laughing stock of the esteemed award show as the sisters announced the winner for outstanding competition series.
During the speech before announcing the winner (which was "RuPaul's Drag Race"), Kim said, "Our family knows firsthand how truly compelling television comes from real people, just being themselves." That's when a few people chuckled loud enough to be picked up by the microphones and the sheer discomfort on their faces surfaced.
Kendall, who has a history of anxiety and having panic attacks at awards ceremonies, continued and said, "Telling their stories, unfiltered and unscripted."
Cue even more laughter. I wanted to feel bad for them, but I couldn't find it in me to feel bad for these women who I used to idolize for the simple fact of the now-infamous Jordyn-Tristian scandal that nearly caused the internet to break.
The Kardashian clan was very opinionated in their hatred towards Jordyn and even condoned some of their die-hard fans' actions and words toward Jordyn and her family (which included, but was not limited to death threats) that was when I had to make the call and un-stan the family that I looked up to for nearly a decade.
In all of this, I say that Kim and Kendall enduring those harsh minutes under the blaring lights in front of Hollywood's finest and brightest, was payback for what they tried to do to Jordyn.
The Kardashians were once on top of the pop culture world, but the minute the scandal hit and they showed their "true, unfiltered, and unscripted" selves, they dropped from number one real quick.
I would like to thank the Emmys, whether they meant for Kim and Kendall to be embarrassed at this magnitude or not, for allowing them to hopefully see the error in their ways and consider this a learning experience that what goes around comes back around.
Also, whoever wrote their lines deserves an Emmy and a raise.
