Kanye: My Role Model

Kanye West is often seen in a negative light. He is out spoken and far from perfect. I am not saying that everyone should try to act like Kanye, but he has always been a role model for me. I have never been a fan of his music, and I honestly hate most of his songs and his public appearances. He makes a fool of himself every time he speaks in public, and at his concerts he raves about himself. He once said he was the voice of a generation, which is absurd. Him marrying a Kardashian is just another reason to hate him more, but through all of this negative light I saw a reason to look up to him.

Everyone can find a reason to hate Kanye West, but that has never stopped him from reaching towards his insane dreams. He dropped out of his high school because he believed he had a promising rap career in front of him. Everyone laughed at him, and he couldn't get signed anywhere. No one took him seriously, but he was able to get a job producing music. At least making beats was a solid start for him. Once again, his perseverance would lead him to greatness. He got his big break when he started producing music for Roc-A-Fella records. After working with artists like Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, and Ludacris, they let him come out with his own album and the rest is history.

Kanye never let negativity destroy his musical dreams. He made his haters his biggest motivators. No matter what people tell him he never lets it affect his confidence. He has the heart of a lion. He might be completely insane, but he is my role model. He never gave up on himself no matter how much scrutiny he was under; he just kept pushing on. No matter how much people hate him, he stands there proud because he knows anything is possible if you believe in yourself. If you don't believe in your own abilities, who can?

That is why everyone should look up to Kanye West. There have been several petitions for him not to headline music festivals, but he doesn't let it impact him. Many comments on his YouTube videos are people trying to take him down a peg, but it's impossible. I looked up to Kanye, and started to believe that anything in life is possible as long as you believe in yourself; anything is possible with confidence. Somehow, this high school drop out made it from not being allowed to make beats to a name the whole world knows. Thanks for giving confidence to thousands of other regular people just like me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
