Does that font type look familiar? Does it make you think of surcharges and long wait times? If you were one of those crazy people who paid $300+ on your New Year's ride home, then you may be just as sick of Uber and Lyft as I am.
If you live in New York, you have a new option coming into the market this spring: Juno.
At first, Juno may seem like any of the other ride-sharing apps. However, behind it is a man named Talmon Marco, the man who created Viber and sold it for $900 million dollars, and there are some big differences when it's compared to Uber.
From their website, Juno shows that they are planning on revamping the ride-sharing experience for the drivers. Here are the main things that Juno will be focusing on once they launch.
Higher Pay
Juno most likely isn't going to compete in price with Uber and Lyft. At least, not in the beginning. They want to be known for their good service to both drivers and riders.
Commission
When you think of Uber’s 20-30 percent commission on every ride, a 10 percent commission seems great.
24/7 Customer Service For Drivers and Passengers
Juno will have human beings ready to help you on the spot 24 hours per day.
In-app Tipping
Have you ever wanted to tip your amazing Uber driver who had his back seats stocked with drinks and snacks? Well, Juno plans on allowing tips for drivers. It's a win-win.
Contractors or Employees
Juno plans on making their drivers employees, which means that they'll get sued a lot less on top of treating their drivers well.
Equity For Drivers
Juno is reserving 50 percent of its founding shares for its drivers.
Right now, they are paying drivers to carry around their devices while they continue to work for companies like Uber and Lyft so that they can get a better idea of gas mileage and the routes that are most often taken in NY. Only time will tell if this ride-share app can make it in the big apple, but it's a name to watch out for.
