Dear Loved One,
This letter will be short but I hope you hear every word with grace and love.
I wrote an article, "An Open Letter To Judgmental Christians," and now I wanted to reach out to you. The you who have felt the persecution, heard the whispers and felt the very depths of anger thrown your way.
I am not here to say I relate to you, or feel your pain, pity you or the like. I do not know the tears you cry at night, the looks you feel while trying to live your life or the anger you feel. But I know this much: you are you, and you are something fantastic.
Now, to those who feel as if they have been victimized, judged, condemned by the Christians defined in said article, I apologize. I am a Christian, and I love you no less. I hope you see the light and love of Jesus in your life. I hope you feel freedom and joy and purpose. I hope you understand that the definitions other people give you are not the weight of your worth.
And this letter is not meant to make me feel more righteous, or somehow better than other Christians. If I could grab each of you by the face and whisper these words, I would. Not because I want to feel better about myself, but because I want you to feel better about yourself; and frankly, because I want you to know that not all Christians are here to judge you. I'm just here to say that you are seen, and you are worthy. And whether you are judged by other Christians, your family, your friends, your colleagues or peers, just remember that the weight of their judgment holds no comparison to the worth you possess.
Also, I applaud those of you who have risen above and overcome the vast amount of controversy and hate. Keep doing you.
Sincerely,
A Christian Who Sees You
p.s. I know this letter is mere words, but know I write them with honesty and true love.
